Bagpipe Lessons in Suffolk

Fancy learning the Great Highland Bagpipes? I teach beginners and developing players of all ages, and it's never too late to learn. Lessons are one to one, in person at my studio in Rickinghall, Suffolk, or online if that suits you better. And no, you don't need to be Scottish to play.

What you'll learn
  • Basic fingering and how to read music
  • Bagpipe embellishments
  • The all-important Scottish timing
  • How to play a range of tunes, from marches to jigs and reels

I'll take you through at your own pace, setting plans and goals to work towards, whether you simply want to play Auld Lang Syne at New Year or go on to join a pipe band. I can help you at every stage of the journey.

What you'll need to begin

To get started you'll need a practice chanter and, ideally, a tutor book to work from. A good all-in-one option is a complete starter pack. Not sure what to buy? Just ask, and I'll point you in the right direction.

Bagpipe practice chanters and sheet music laid out, ready for a beginner's lesson
Prices
  • £30 per hour, one to one
  • An introduction pack of 4 lessons for £100, which makes an excellent gift!

A lesson pack is how I first got started on the pipes many years ago, and it's a lovely present for a loved one who has always wanted to learn.
